Hans Richard Heinmann (* May 12, 1875 in Gardelegen ; † September 24, 1947 in Altenberg ) was a painter and graphic artist from the Saxon Eastern Ore Mountains .

He was raised by his mother as an only child to love nature . From 1895 to 1899 he studied painting at the Dresden Art Academy and was a student of Professor Friedrich Preller in Dresden and lived from 1908 until his death in the small town of Altenberg in the Eastern Ore Mountains, Sonnenhofweg 8. He painted and drew in various painting techniques and gave his nature images a diverse range Looking at mountains , meadows , forests , trees and placing people in nature. Later he painted people doing their job, as craftsmen , farmers or miners . Working in the mining industry in particular inspired him to take numerous pictures.

After the First World War , he was drawn to the Alps , Tyrol and the Dolomites in the summer months . His trademark on his mountain tours were Tyrolean hats and shorts with embroidered suspenders. While he painted the alpine pictures in bright, radiant colors, in contrast, his pictures from the Altenberg area were created in muted colors. He occupied himself with collecting and pressing leaves and plants , which were used as a template for his ornaments and colors. In Altenberg he was affectionately known as "uncle painter". He loved quiet winter evenings and studied children's books.

In 1922 he created seven illustrations for the fairy tale book Vom guten König Quirlequitsch and other funny companions by the author Gertrud Reinhold . On behalf of Altenberg's mayor Hilscher, he created pictures with city motifs in 1942. These served as a template and support for the reconstruction of the city, which was destroyed by the Soviet Air Force in the last days of the Second World War. In 1946 a multi-color print appeared with the Altenberger Werke. His work Ziegenhirten was restored on behalf of the city of Altenberg and is located in the wedding room of the town hall.

Heinmann left behind numerous landscape pastels, especially from the area around Altenberg; Most famous were delicate spring landscapes and several depictions from the working world of the Erzgebirge miners. But he also painted views outside of Germany, for example in 1930 the view into the Gauertal .

Heinmann died in Altenberg at the age of 72 and was buried in the local cemetery. In Altenberg you could visit a small exhibition in the Sparkasse from June to August 2014.
