Hans Schäfer (born January 26, 1910 in Rhodt unter Rietburg near Edenkoben , Rhineland-Palatinate ; † May 6, 1980 in Bad Kissingen , Lower Franconia ) was a German lawyer , State Secretary and President of the Federal Audit Office .

Life

Hans Schäfer studied law and political science at the University of Munich , where he was a member of the Corps Vitruvia. His dissertation , with which he was awarded a Dr. jur. received his doctorate, wrote Schäfer in 1934 at the Julius Maximilians University of Würzburg on the subject of "The community in their participation in the judiciary" .

From 1937 to 1939 and from 1942 to 1945 Schäfer worked in the Reich Ministry of Justice ; from 1939 to 1942 he was drafted into the armed forces. In 1943 he was a senior councilor in the Reich Ministry for the Occupied Eastern Territories and, with Walter Wilhelmi and Walter Labs, author of a legal collection for occupied Estonia , Latvia , Lithuania , Belarus and the Ukraine under the editor Alfred Meyer .

After the Second World War he was a civil servant in the Ministry of Justice of the State of Rhineland-Palatinate from 1947 to 1955. He was then transferred to the Federal Ministry of the Interior in 1955 , where he worked until 1962 as Ministerial Director and Head of Department I ( Constitution , State Law and Administration). From 1962 to 1966 and from 1969 to 1971 he was a permanent state secretary in the BMI. Most recently, Schäfer was President of the Federal Audit Office from 1971 to 1978.

Schäfer was a member of the FDP.
