Heinz Günter Zavelberg (born October 16, 1928 in Brühl ; † June 14, 2015 ) was a German politician ( CDU ). From 1985 to 1993 he was President of the Federal Audit Office .

Life

From 1944 he was used as an air force helper. After studying law in Bonn and Cologne and obtaining his doctorate, he was a judge in the Cologne Higher Regional Court district from 1956 to 1962 (most recently a district court judge), then until 1970 in the budget department of the Federal Ministry of Finance , initially as a consultant in the general and principle department, from 1966 as head of department for the then newly created medium-term financial planning and for the economic management of the federal budget . From 1970 to 1982 he was a financial adviser to the CDU / CSU parliamentary group in the German Bundestag . In 1970 he also became a member of the CDU. From 1978 until his appointment to the BRH, he was councilor in Brühl and chairman of the CDU SME association of the Rhein-Erft district .

After a brief activity in 1982/83 as ministerial director and sub-department head in the BMF, he became vice-president in 1983 and the first president of the Federal Audit Office elected by parliament in 1985, at that time still headquartered in Frankfurt / Main.

After his retirement in 1993, he was available for a few years on behalf of the BRH and various organizations as a short-term advisor in several countries of the former Eastern Bloc . The grandfather of 14 grandchildren spent the twilight years in his hometown Brühl.
