Hans Walter Schmidt (writer)

Hans Walter Schmidt (also: R. Hans W. Schmidt , pseudonyms : Dr. Faber , Reinhold Spieß , born May 26, 1885 in Danzig ; † May 13, 1974 in Buckenhof ) was a German writer .

Life

Hans Walter Schmidt was the son of a senior police officer . After attending the humanistic grammar school , Hans Walter Schmidt studied natural sciences , geography and finance at the universities in Heidelberg and Erlangen . He passed the state examination in Munich and worked as a teacher . In 1911 he earned his doctorate in philosophy at the University of Erlangen with a thesis in the field of zoology . He later lived as a farmer in Buckenhof near Erlangen . Schmidt worked for various scientific and agricultural science journals. He undertook a number of research trips that were reflected in his literary works. He was also active as a singer .

In addition to scientific works, Hans Walter Schmidt published numerous narrative works that have often been set in exotic locations since the 1920s ; partly they can be assigned to the genre of the Wild West novel.
