Harald Wagner

Harald Wagner (born February 12, 1944 in Bennisch ; † June 7, 2016 in Münster ) was a German Catholic theologian .

Life

After graduating from high school in Gießen in 1963 , he studied philosophy and theology at the PTH Sankt Georgen from 1963 to 1965 , in the summer semester of 1965 at the University of Munich and from 1965 to 1972 at the theological faculty of the Pontifical Gregorian University . After ordination in 1968 for the Diocese of Limburg , he acquired the Lic. Theol. and in 1972 the Dr. theol. with a paper on the early Catholic problem. From 1972 to 1974 he was a chaplain in Frankfurt am Main . From 1974 to 1976 he completed his habilitation in Munich with Heinrich Fries with a thesis on Johann Adam Möhler ; Dr. theol. habil. ( Authorization to teach fundamental theology and ecumenical theology). 1980/1981 he was professor at the PH Schwäbisch Gmünd , specializing in systematic theology. From 1981 to 1994 he was professor of Catholic theology (focus: systematic theology) at the Philipps University of Marburg , head of the Catholic theological seminar , and professor at the Fulda Faculty of Theology . Since 1982 he has worked continuously at the Johann Adam Möhler Institute for Ecumenism in Paderborn. From 1994 to 2009 he was professor of dogmatics and the history of dogma at the Catholic-Theological Faculty of the University of Münster .

His work and research focus were theology of the 19th century (Tübingen School, Romanticism etc.), questions of systematic theology with ecumenical relevance (especially from ecclesiology), ecumenics, in general, fundamental and methodological questions of theology (in particular fundamental theological questions), Borderline questions to religious education, questions between theology and medicine (main focus from my time in Marburg) and theology and culture.
