Hard out Here is a song by British pop singer Lily Allen . The song was released on November 17, 2013 as the first single from their third studio album Sheezus . The song was released in Germany , Austria and Switzerland on January 17, 2014. It is Lily Allen's first single after Who'd Have Known , published four years ago, and was used as the theme music for the eighth season of Ich bin ein Star - Get me out of here ! used, which started on the release day of the single, January 17, 2014.

In 2010 the singer announced that she wanted a break from music so that she could take care of her family more. In June 2013, she announced that she was working on her third studio album, which will be released in spring 2014. Before that, she released the album's first single Hard Out Here on the YouTube video platform on November 15, 2013, which was available for download two days later .
In the song Lily Allen describes the reification of women, especially in the music industry, but also in everyday life. She addresses various stereotypes and connects certain parts of the text with sarcasm . The Rolling Stone describes the title as a feminist hymn, attacking traditional role clichés and the fact that there are two different standards for sex and appearance in men and women.
