Harry Mönch (born January 25, 1925 in Berlin ) is a former German trade unionist ( FDGB ) and politician ( SED ). He was chairman of the Frankfurt (Oder) district board of the FDGB, chairman of the district economic council and chairman of the council of the Frankfurt (Oder) district.

Life

Mönch, son of a foundry worker and a worker, attended elementary and vocational school in Berlin. In 1939/40 he was a state year old in the Rhineland , then from 1940 to 1942 he was a junior helper at the Deutsche Reichsbahn in Berlin. In 1942 he worked as a commercial clerk in Berlin before he was drafted into the Reich Labor Service . From November 1942 to May 1945 he had to do military service in the Wehrmacht . As a non-commissioned officer , he was taken prisoner by the US , which he spent from May to June 1945 in the Mauerkirchen camp in Upper Austria .

After his release, Mönch returned to Germany and initially worked as an auxiliary fitter in Bietigheim in Württemberg in 1945/46 , then as a transport worker in Berlin in 1946/47. In 1947/48 he was retrained as a mechanic in Berlin . From January 1949 he was working area manager at IG Metall in Falkensee . In July 1949 he joined the SED. In 1949 he attended the regional union school of the FDGB in Belzig for three and a half months . In 1949/50 he was an instructor and department head for work and wages in the Brandenburg state board of IG Metall in Potsdam .

In 1950 Mönch attended the Federal School of the FDGB in Bernau near Berlin for six months . From 1950 to July 1952 he acted as secretary of the secretariat and head of the labor / wages and social affairs departments in the regional executive committee of the FDGB in Potsdam. From August 1952 to June 1960 he was chairman of the Frankfurt (Oder) district board of the FDGB, and from August 1952 to July 1969 he was a member of the Frankfurt (Oder) district assembly. From 1955 to 1963 he was a candidate for the federal executive committee of the FDGB.

Between 1954 and 1960 he completed a distance learning course at the party college "Karl Marx" , which he graduated with a degree in social science. From July 1960 to 1963 he acted as deputy chairman of the district council and chairman of the Frankfurt (Oder) district economic council. From March 1963 to May 1969 Mönch was chairman of the council of the Frankfurt (Oder) district.

After studying at the party college at the Central Committee of the CPSU in Moscow (1968/69), Mönch worked from November 1969 to 1971 as a research assistant for basic questions of state leadership in the working group on state and economic management at the GDR Council of Ministers . In 1972/73 he headed the advisory group at the Council of Ministers of the People's Democratic Republic of Yemen . In 1973 he became Head of Department for State Management in the Office of the Council of Ministers. From 1974 to 1980 he served as the Deputy Head of the State Administration of the State Reserve at the Council of Ministers. From 1981 to 1989 he was a research assistant in the secretariat of the Council of Ministers and finally retired.
