The Harsberg coat of arms has existed since 1956. In the minutes of the municipal council meeting on May 3, 1955, it says: “The municipality must obtain a new registry office seal that should contain the municipality's coat of arms.” Three suggestions for a local coat of arms came from the Stuttgart archives department and one Sketch by archivist Karl Schumm from Neuenstein. The municipal council finally decided on a proposal from the state capital. This was carefully worked out and then submitted for award. The description of the coat of arms is as follows: Split, in front a silver bunch of grapes in red, behind in silver a red cleaver turned to the left. The coat of arms was officially handed over on February 15, 1956.

Culture and sights

The educational wine trail leads through the middle of the "Dachsteiger" growing area above the Heuholz winegrowers' cooperative. With 36 information boards and grapes painted on the asphalt, he shows you the way through the vineyards. The wine as "a marriage of heaven and earth": This connection brings you clear explanations on about three kilometers of paved circular path closer. Halfway along the educational wine trail there is a viewing platform at a height of 315 meters on the Ranzenberg. If the visibility is good, the view over the Hohenlohe plain even extends to the Katzenbuckel in the Odenwald. A pergola made of local larch wood, covered with grapevines, and the seating group bordered by a dry stone wall invite you to linger. A landscape relief explains the view. The Philosophenweg is located above the vineyards.

Buildings and ground monuments

  • The Upper Germanic-Raetian Limes , a border fortification built by the Romans around 160 AD and declared a UNESCO World Heritage Site in 2005 , crosses the marking west of the hamlet of Harsberg in a north-south direction. According to the representation of the Reichs-Limeskommission, there were seven watchtowers (Wp 9/42 to 9/48) in the course of this section of the route, the location of which is still partly recognizable today from slight elevations.
  • Princely Hohenlohian rulership press . The building is one of the oldest and most important still preserved rulers in northern Württemberg. It was built in its original form (pillar-less interior with hanging structure) in 1740 as a communal wine press for the dynasties of Hohenlohe-Waldenburg and Hohenlohe-Öhringen. In 1842 an extension was added to the baroque building. This northern extension was demolished as part of the renovation in order to restore the original condition. Extensive building files and tradesmen's bills are preserved in the Hohenloher Central Archive in Schloss Neuenstein and reveal the history of the wine press. The column-free roof construction over an area of 15 × 18 m was a master carpentry achievement. Today the wine press is owned by Herrmann Schluchter and was renovated in 1990 with grants from the State Monuments Office , the Baden-Württemberg Monument Foundation , the Hohenlohe District and the Pfedelbach community .
