The Hartmannshofer Bach is a northward flowing brook less than five kilometers long in the western urban area of Munich and part of the north Munich canal system .
Original course
Originally the Hartmannshofer Bach originated at about 519 m above sea level. NN and ran, only temporarily water-bearing, through forest and meadow north to the Schwabenbächl . This flowed after a further 7 km north-west to north near the old settlement core of the Karlsfeld part of the municipality Rothschwaige from the right to 488 m above sea level. NN in the Würm . ⊙
In 1601 the middle and lower reaches of the Schwabenbächl were excavated in the course of the construction of the Würm Canal. Since then it has flowed east of the old course at 493 m above sea level. NN in the Würm Canal ⊙ ; A large industrial area of Allach and parts of the eponymous district and even more of the district of Rothschwaige von Karlsfeld are located on the route of the former middle and lower reaches. The newly created, almost 2 hectare large Eichinger See and smaller ponds are also part of the old route.
Change of course from 1700
Since 1701, an additional 523 m above sea level. NN in Pasing to the right water from the Würm geleitet and led through the Pasing-Nymphenburg Canal to the approximately 1.8 ha large lake near the old Nymphenburg Palace, today's Pagodenburger See , also known as the Kleiner See . The overflow this to about 518 m above sea level. NN lying lake flows over two short outflow branches into the then reunited Hartmannshofer Bach and further north to relieve the flood . Thanks to the water supplied by the overpass and because the storage lake smooths the runoff over time, the Hartmannshofer Bach has been carrying water all year round since then.
Today's course
Today the brook only runs open over a distance of about 3.5 km, and after the Pagodenburger See it flows through the Kugelweiher in Nymphenburg Park . Then he moves on through the Kapuzinerhölzl forest to the sports facilities on Lechelstrasse in Hartmannshofen, which gives it its name, and on to a strip of forest and park that belongs to Hartmannshofer Park . After that, he soon crosses Allacher Straße in the now built-up area, beyond which his open bed in a green area of the Moosach district between the converging residential streets Am Hartmannshofer Bächl and Donauwörther Straße at about 505 m above sea level. NN ends. From there, its water flows further north towards the Munich-North marshalling yard . He crosses under the station in a culvert , at the end of which he is 499 m above sea level. NN flows into the 5 hectare landscape lake Allacher Lohe , which was created around 1990 as the operating and extinguishing water lake of the station . Its outflow then forms the Schwabenbächl, which initially continues to flow northwest along its historical route. From the Munich-Ludwigsfeld autobahn exit, it flows a new way to the north and flows into the Würm Canal next to a car test area .
As of 2018, the stream suffered from fluctuating water levels, overgrowth and isolated dry spots.
Landscape and nature
The brook runs in the Nymphenburger Park, and then in the Kapuzinerhölzl and another area near Hartmannshofen in the landscape protection areas LSG-00120.07 and LSG-00588.01, which were designated in 1964 . The designation as a nature reserve has been discussed since 1987, but this has not yet been done. The area has a remarkable biodiversity that is worth protecting. See: flora and fauna .
