Hary Raithofer (born April 17, 1965 in Bruck an der Mur ) is an Austrian airline pilot, moderator and media coach.

life and career

After attending the Langenwang elementary school and the Mürzzuschlag grammar school, Hary Raithofer graduated from the Mürzzuschlag HAK in 1985, and then enrolled at the Vienna University of Economics and Business Administration .

During his studies, he gained his first experience at ORF television, mainly as a cable operator for sports broadcasts. This was followed by rapid further development in the newly introduced children's format as a studio assistant and manager or as an editor and article designer at Kinder-Wurlitzer together with Thomas Brezina . As part of the children's format, Raithofer also gained experience in front of the camera. He played the character Professor Kleinstein in the live show Heureka , which received a television award. Since the time-consuming work on television was becoming more and more demanding, he dropped out of his studies without further ado.

In the summer of 1988, Hary Raithofer indulged his passion for radio for the first time. He made his first experiences as a presenter at Radio Adria , a holiday radio project for the Austrian daily newspaper Die Presse (broadcasting area Obere Adria). In 1992 the call of the newly founded Viennese city broadcaster Das neue Radio Wien from Argentinierstraße followed as part of the program reform . This also put an end to television employment. Within a short time, Raithofer was the presenter of the morning program and subsequently became the station's program manager. In 1995 he ventured a fresh start by switching to the nationwide most listened to ORF radio station Hitradio Ö3 and initially working as an assistant (coffee maker) at Dominic Heinzl's midday magazine Smalltalk . He was also able to prove himself as a reporter on Oliver Baier's Saturday afternoon show. The new program Der Pleiten-, Pech- und Pannendienst then gave him his first Austria-wide appearance behind the microphone. This was followed by the moderation of Club Ö3 .

From 1996 to 2004 he finally moderated the Ö3-Wecker , the most famous morning show in Austria. Here he was significantly involved in a reform - at that time Ö3 urgently had to react to the private radio stations coming onto the market. After the fall of the radio monopoly, the station suffered significant losses and in the Raithofer era, the Ö3 alarm clock in particular achieved historical highs that are still unbroken today.

Hary Raithofer is also considered a sponsor of Hadschi Bankhofer Jr. , whose supervisor and mentor he was at Radio Vienna from 1992 to 1996 .

In 2002, Raithofer began training as an airline pilot parallel to his job at Ö3. In November 2004 he left Ö3 to realize his childhood dream and devoted himself entirely to aviation. Initially, he flew until 2007 with the airline company Jetalliance on the Cessna Citation 525, 560, 56X, 56XL and Citation X aircraft . He then worked for Tyrolean Airways , a subsidiary of Austrian Airlines , as first officer on the Fokker 70 and Fokker 100 aircraft (5000 flight hours, as of April 2013). Today he is First Officer airline pilot at Austrian Airlines.

In addition, Hary Raithofer began advising radio stations in 2007, including Radio Tirol and Antenne Steiermark . In spring 2007, Antenne Steiermark started the largest casting campaign in Styria, where he acted as a juror.

From March 2009 to January 2010 he hosted the morning show on Radio 88.6 together with Matthias Euler-Rolle .

In 2013, Hary Raithofer met the billionaire and party founder Frank Stronach ( Team Stronach ), which ultimately led to Raithofer's commitment as a communications consultant for the Stronach team.
