Hash Me - I'm the Murderer , also Louis with the Dead Body , is a French comedy film from 1971. It is based on the play The Gazebo by Alec Coppel .

action

Screenwriter Antoine Brisebard "shoots" his lawyer and friend Adrien when the maid Mathilde bursts in and faints because of the drama of the situation. In fact, Brisebard only rehearses one scene for a new crime thriller - at least that's how he told his friend Adrien. In reality, Antoine Brisebard is blackmailed by a certain Monsieur Jo and wants to get out of the dilemma by his murder. When he confronts the alleged blackmailer on the same evening, however, he does not have the heart to shoot the man. Instead, he throws the revolver to the ground, triggering a shot that fatally hits the alleged blackmailer Jo.

Brisebard then buries the body in his garden, where a new pavilion is to be built. But then the investigating inspector Ducros tells him that Jo had been found dead. The scriptwriter realizes that he apparently killed the wrong person. After Brisebard initially suspected various missing acquaintances as murder victims, it finally turns out that the dead person is the crook Riri, who in turn murdered the crook Jo.

After the pavilion was struck by lightning in a night thunderstorm and destroyed, Antoine Brisebard tries to find a new hiding place for the corpse, initially alone and later with the help of his wife, while Inspector Ducros searches his house as well as potential buyers of the house, tradesmen and a fire extinguisher representative create additional mayhem. The corpse is first hidden in a statue, then in a grandfather clock and finally in a suitcase.

Just as the Brisebards have managed to remove the suitcase from their property, the inspector tells them that there are two more gangsters nearby - who had previously been to Brisebard's to fetch a suitcase with money that Riri had with him - had a car accident. He now considers them to be the murderers, which means that Brisebard suddenly has enough time to make the body disappear for good. However, he is seen by Ducros.

The film is based on the crime comedy The Gazebo by Alec Coppel from 1958, which was filmed in 1959 under the German title Die Nervensäge by director George Marshall with Glenn Ford in the lead role. In 1964 an adaptation was made for German television with Horst Tappert and Konrad Georg in the leading roles. The film The Lookout Tower , directed by Wilm ten Haaf , was shown on German television on April 26, 1964 .

The repeated dialogue between de Funès and Blier became cult: “No!” - “Yes!” - “Oh!” This originally came from the film Oscar , where it was not performed as consistently.
