Havelock Hudson , GCB , KCIE (born June 26, 1862 , † December 25, 1944 ) was a British officer in the British Army , who was last as a general between 1920 and 1924 in command of the East Command of the British Indian Army .

Life

Officer training and uses in the British Indian Army

Havelock Hudson graduated after school officer training and was after its conclusion on 22 October 1881 as Lieutenant (Lieutenant) in the line infantry regiment Northamptonshire Regiment adopted. First World War and promotion to general

As commanding general of the 8th Infantry Division, Major General Havelock Hudson took part in the Battle of the Somme (July 1 to November 18, 1916).

After that, Havelock Hudson was appointed commander of the cavalry school in Sangor on August 27, 1912 and was also awarded the temporary rank of brigadier general (Temporary Brigadier) . Already on October 1, 1912 he was transferred back to the General Staff of the Northern Army of the British-Indian Army, where on November 30, 1914 he was promoted to Brigadier General (Brigadier) . On April 15 in 1915, with retroactive effect from February 18, 1915 was promoted to Major General (Major-General) of the British Indian Army. As such, he was on his return in August 1915 succeeded Major General Francis Davies as Commanding General ( General Officer Commanding ) of the 8th Infantry Division (8th Infantry Division) and held this position until December 1916 then Major General William Heneker became his successor. On June 21, 1922, he also took over the post of aide-de-camp from King George V , succeeding General William Birdwood . On September 29, 1922 he was also a Grand Officer of the Star of Romania .
