history

Thousands of Muslim Georgians fled their Caucasian homeland for fear of a possible retaliation by the Russian Empire after the end of the Russo-Turkish War of 1877–1878 . They boarded ships in the Georgian port city of Batumi and traveled to Giresun , Ordu , Samsun , Sinop , Istanbul and other port cities of the Ottoman Empire . While some Georgians settled near these cities, others have moved further inland and settled in villages in Amasya , Adapazarı , Bursa and Balıkesir provinces .

The founders of Hayriye left a village near Artvin , on today's border between Turkey and Georgia , towards the province of Bursa , with a group of 250 people . According to the village elders, the founders were made aware of the area where the village was founded by a Georgian imam named "Haci Mehmet Efendi". He lived in the Turkish village of "Maden", which is very close. In the course of excursions and hikes, he had noticed how similar the terrain, the climate, the forests and rivers had to his native Georgia.

When the group from Artvin arrived in this area, however, they found a small group of Circassians who had since settled here. Insistence on the right to settle in the place led to quarrels between the two groups. In the interests of a peaceful solution, the case was brought to the district administrator in İnegöl . This allowed the Georgians to stay in the area and assigned today's "Hacikara" to the Circassians. According to statements, the district administrator used the word "hayirli" (beneficial, beneficial) more often when he announced his decision. According to the Georgians, this was the reason for the name of the village.
