Heike Größwang (* 1970 ) is a German sports manager , sports functionary and the Secretary General of the International Bobsleigh & Skeleton Federation .

Career

Heike Großwang studied business administration and after graduating from 1995 to 2010 she worked as managing director of the agency for sports marketing and events RGS, which specializes in bobsleigh , skeleton and luge and which developed and organized sponsorship for the International Luge Federation (FIL). From there she moved to the FIBT ( Fédération Internationale de Bobsleigh et de Tobogganing ), which at the time was ineffectively organized and facing bankruptcy . In 2009, national associations from Germany, Switzerland, Italy and Austria succeeded in replacing the then President of the FIBT, Robert H. Storey , who was seen as the main culprit for the lack of professionalism in the sports. After Ivo Ferriani was elected as Storey's successor at the annual FIBT congress in Lake Placid at the end of 2009 , Großerwang was responsible for the modernization of the association under his presidency from 2010. She saw the renaming to International Bobsleigh & Skeleton Federation , implemented in 2015, as an important measure ; the old name was seen as an obstacle, especially for the marketing of the skeleton. In 2012, Großwang was appointed full-time Secretary General, at which point she handed the management of RGS back to her father. From then on she drove the modernization and marketing of the association, she won BMW as the title sponsor, Gazprom , Liqui Moly and Bauhaus as main sponsors and for Germany ARD as a television partner. It also streamlined the organizational structure and incorporated the national professional associations more closely into the association structure.

In 2019, Großwang was appointed to the IOC's Evaluation Commission for the 2026 Winter Olympics . In 2020 she opened the 2020 Bobsleigh and Skeleton World Championships in Altenberg .
