Heike Kati Barath
Heike Kati Barath (* 1966 in Vaihingen an der Enz ) is a German painter .
life and work
Heike Kati Barath studied from 1990 to 1991 at the Koninklijke Academie voor Schone Kunsten in Ghent . Then until 1998 at the Art Academy in Münster with Rainer Barzen , Ingrid Roscheck and Ulrich Erben . From 2008 to 2012 she was teaching at the Art Academy in Münster . 2012/2013 she teaches at the University of the Arts Bremen . She lives and works in Berlin.
Barath mainly paints on large-format canvases. In addition to oil and varnish, she uses acrylic sealants and construction foam. Her brightly colored pictures show to a large extent portraits, but also fictitious objects. Large areas of color are juxtaposed with difficult elaborations.
In addition to the oil paintings, works on paper are created. Temporary wall drawings can often be seen in exhibitions.
