occupation

Heil is a German satirical film directed by Dietrich Brüggemann from 2015 . The script written by Brüggemann takes up the views, prejudices and methods of right-wing extremists and neo-Nazis in a satirical way and at the same time critically parodies the views and methods of others, e.g. B. left-wing counter-demonstrators , police officers , journalists , the protection of the constitution and civic observers.

action

The writer Sebastian Klein is the son of an African and a German parent and is one of the most famous authors in Germany. To promote his latest book, he travels to Germany to give readings, including the small town of Prittwitz. Once there, he was hit on the head by local neo-Nazis and lost his long-term memory. He now repeats almost everything that other people say to him like a parrot. Sven, the political leader of a modern national-democratic party, recognizes the opportunity and uses Sebastian as an advertising spokesman against integration, especially at public appearances to which Sebastian regularly receives invitations. When Sebastian's heavily pregnant girlfriend Nina sees him first on TV and then in real life at such an event, she is shocked and follows him with Sascha, who has given up his job as a police officer because of the local Nazis to save Sebastian from the neo-Nazis.

criticism

When the film was released, many print and online media attended Brüggemann's films, commented on the presentation and background, and criticized it. The film received negative criticism from the daily newspaper . Above all, the simplistic presentation is criticized, irrelevance with regard to current political developments on right-wing extremist issues and the lack of real humor are certified. Other media outlets such as the Frankfurter Allgemeine Zeitung and Der Spiegel are also drafting a detailed review that deals with the relationships and backgrounds of the film from today's political perspective in Germany.

Other film journalists, however, also commented positively on Brüggemann's film, for example Andreas Busche on kinofenster.de , where the satire was recommended for educational work in schools: “Since Brüggemann does not work with preconceived arguments, Heil, despite his sometimes crude humor a good basis for discussion in order to deal with the dissemination of right-wing extremist ideas in the social mainstream, the mechanisms of media discourse and the demands on a modern civil society.
