Heimerode is a district of Othfresen in the municipality of Liebenburg in the district of Goslar in Lower Saxony with about 250 inhabitants. Heimerode can be reached via the L 500 .

history

In the direction of Othfresen are the Galgenberg and the Flöteberg, which were a major obstacle for stagecoach traffic until the middle of the 19th century. Heimerode had been a mining village since the 1930s, and its inhabitants mined iron ore in the ore mines . In Schacht Fortuna ore was mined until the early 1960s. At the Bismarck shaft , on the road from Othfresen to Heimerode, a mural on the former company building reminds of the original appearance of the shaft. A renaturation was carried out in the nearby gypsum pit in 2009, before the gypsum pit had been cleared of almost all trees. Since 2010, the Glockenwinkel nursing home on the L 500 has been providing more capacity with a new building and renovation of the old building.

Heimerode is on Landesstraße 500 between Lutter am Barenberge , Othfresen and Bundesstraße 6 in the west and Liebenburg and Schladen in the east.

Events

Every few years there is a garage flea market and an open garden day in Heimerode, in which every citizen can participate on a voluntary basis. A summer festival is also held every year at Haus Glockenwinkel.
