Heiner Grimm

Heiner Grimm (born May 20, 1913 in Wunsiedel , Upper Franconia ; † September 3, 1985 there ) was a German painter .

Life

Grimm studied six semesters at the state college in Selb and then at the Munich Art Academy with Paul Klee .

While he was doing his military service as a propaganda artist on the fronts in Poland , France and Russia between 1939 and 1945 , he created impressive portraits and war drawings. Grimm was injured in the Battle of Stalingrad and was taken prisoner by the Americans in 1945.

After the end of the war, Heiner Grimm resumed his artistic activity and since that year has been a member of the Nuremberg-Munich professional association.

From 1950 to 1953 Grimm stayed in Sweden for study purposes , where a portrait of the later King Carl XVI. Gustaf of Sweden was born in childhood. Exhibitions in Stockholm and Karlskrona followed . Between 1954 and 1959 Heiner Grimm went on study trips to Italy , France , Norway and Switzerland .

From 1959 to 1962 Grimm stayed in the USA for study purposes, where he exhibited in Palm Springs, Pasadena, Los Angeles , San Francisco and Death Valley , among others . In 1960 a portrait was made of President Dwight D. Eisenhower and two years later of President John F. Kennedy . In addition, the future President Richard Nixon and the silent film legend Harpo Marx ( Marx Brothers ) were portrayed during the time in the United States .

In 1964 Heiner Grimm was accepted as a member of the International Association for Art and Literature (FIAL). In the following year he went on a study trip to Egypt , exhibited in Würzburg , Montreux (Casino), Scottsdale (Arizona), Bad Brückenau , Hilden , Bad Kissingen and Bonn ( Beethovenhalle ). In 1976 Federal President Walter Scheel visited the painter in Wunsiedel. In 1978 Grimm traveled to Greece and was awarded the Medal of Merit in his hometown. In 1980 study trips were made to Indonesia and the island of Bali , in the following two years to England , Portugal , Madeira , Morocco , Spain ( Lanzarote , Grenada and Ibiza ).

In 1984 Heiner Grimm traveled to Brazil and West Africa for the last time . After his death, numerous works remained in public and private ownership.

In addition to the works mentioned above, portraits of Queen Juliana of the Netherlands , Beppo Brem , Carolin Reiber and others were created.
