Heinrich Albert Oppermann (pseudonym: Hermann Forsch) (* July 22, 1812 in Göttingen ; † February 16, 1870 in Nienburg / Weser ) was a Hanover- German lawyer , politician and writer .

Life

Oppermann was born in Göttingen in 1812. Here he studied law and became a member of the old Göttingen fraternity in 1831 ; after his doctorate in 1842, he settled as a lawyer in Hoya on the Weser. In 1844 he married Elise Blöde in Dresden . In 1846 he was appointed notary , in 1852 senior court attorney and vice-president of the bar in Nienburg. From 1849 to 1857 and from 1862 to 1866 he was a deputy in the Second Chamber of the Hanoverian Estates Assembly, and from 1867 to 1870 a member of the Prussian House of Representatives. From 1863 he published the Nienburger Wochenblatt . He was a member of the Nienburg Masonic Lodge Georg zum Silber Unicorn .

Heinrich Albert Oppermann was buried in the Verdener Strasse cemetery in Nienburg. In 1994 his grave monument with portrait medallion was restored by Ferdinand Hartzer and set up opposite the theater on the Hornwerk.

Works

In his main work, the nine-volume novel 100 Years , he describes political and social developments between 1770 and 1870, based on the lives of some residents of a small town in the Hanover region. In this respect it is also a novel about the last hundred years of the state of Hanover . With the place that he calls Heustedt in the novel, he means Hoya , located on the Weser ; many of the characters in the novel represent actual contemporaries of the author. The autobiographical and documentary features of the work can be seen, among other things, in Oppermann's depiction of the pre-March events , in which he also emphasizes his own role in the dissemination of the Göttinger Sieben's letter of protest .
