Heinrich Bansi (born March 1754 in Chamues-ch ; † October 2, 1835 in Champfèr ) was a Swiss Reformed pastor .

Life

Heinrich Bansi was born in March 1754 in Chamues-ch in the Upper Engadine in the canton of Graubünden as the son of pastor Lucius Bansi. He was baptized there on March 19, 1754. Lucius Bansi's family came from Ardez . Lucius Bansi first taught his son himself, in 1769 he sent him to Herrnhut .

On June 15, 1773 Heinrich Bansi was accepted into the Evangelical-Rhaetian Synod in Malans . He had not studied at a university, but was prepared by his father for the synod examination.

The right to serve as a pastor in the Free State of the Three Leagues was associated with admission to the Synod . For the time being, Bansi was not given his own parish office, but supported his father in the parish in his parish in Fläsch . According to official information, he held this position as a helper until 1784. Nevertheless, Bansi probably spent some time outside of Fläsch for study purposes. It is obvious that he briefly studied at the Reformed Academy in Lausanne , although he is not mentioned in the register there. He hadn't tried to get a job as a pastor.

In 1784 he succeeded his father in Fläsch. But he only worked as a pastor for two years; he preferred to devote himself to politics. In 1786 he was expelled from the Evangelical-Rhaetian Synod because of his political activities. At the same time he worked as a farmer. In 1798 he became a soldier and later a captain in the French army.

In 1803 he moved to Silvaplana and then to Champfèr , where he lived until his death on October 2, 1835. He published works on agricultural topics and the history of his homeland. Most of his unpublished estate is kept in the Graubünden State Archives in Chur.
