from Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia

Heinrich Mühlpfort (born July 10, 1639 in Breslau ; † July 1, 1681 there ) was a German and Latin poet of the Baroque era .

Life

Heinrich Mühlpfort attended the Maria-Magdalenen-Gymnasium in Breslau , where he was friends with Daniel Caspar von Lohenstein .

After studying in Leipzig and Promotion (1662) in Wittenberg as a doctor of jurisprudence Mühlpfort worked as a tutor for various Saxon nobles. Eventually, however, he got a job in the judiciary as registrar at the Guardianship Court in Wroclaw.

Mühlpfort's work as a poet is divided into two phases. The early work is determined by the student lyric, while later he wrote in a strongly stylized style typical of the Baroque period. He published numerous occasional poems in German and Latin, of which more than 200 can still be found in individual prints. After a collection campaign among Mühlpfort's friends, part of the same was published in 1686 in 2 collective editions.

His grave inscription reads:

Nine words and no more
should have this tomb:
Here under this stone
thirst and gout are buried.
