Heinrich Pauli (physician)

Heinrich Pauli , also Danish Paulli (* 1565 in Rostock ; † August 13, 1610 in Nykøbing (Denmark)) was a German doctor and rector of the University of Rostock .

Life

Heinrich Pauli was the son of the Rostock professor of theology and superintendent at the Jakobikirche Simon Pauli (the elder) and his second wife Katharine Prenger, daughter of the Rostock citizen Heinrich Prenger from Westphalia . He was a grandson of the Schwerin Mayor Johann Pauli and cousin of Dr. med. and Stadtphysikus (1603) Johann Pauli in Wismar .

Pauli completed a medical degree at Rostock University from 1576. In August 1594, he was there at the Medical Faculty of the Dr. med. PhD. In the same year he was appointed councilor professor of medicine and in Wilhelm Lauremberg's place as city physicist of Rostock. In addition, he was rector of the university in 1596 and 1602. In 1604 he followed the appointment to the personal physician of the widowed Danish Queen Sophie (1557-1631), a born princess of Mecklenburg , and went to Nykøbing.

Heinrich Pauli was married from 1595 to Katharine Papke (1580–1650), the daughter of the garment tailor Nikolaus Papke and Gesa Schlorf. The marriage came from Simon Pauli (the younger) (1603–1680), a physician and professor at the universities of Rostock and Copenhagen .
