Heinrich Schmidt (born January 10, 1912 in Gersweiler ; † August 16, 1988 ), nicknamed "Henner", was a German football player .

Career

Schmidt began playing football in his place of birth at the local SV Gersweiler before he moved to Sportfreunde 05 Saarbrücken and via VfL Cologne in 1899 1936 to FV Saarbrücken , which was renamed 1. FC Saarbrücken from 1945. In his club membership until 1952 he experienced his most successful time as a player. From 1936 to 1939 he played in the Gauliga Südwest , one of initially 16, later increased to 23 Gauligen at the time of National Socialism as a uniform top division in the German Empire . After the first two seasons were finished sixth and eighth, the club withdrew from the Gauliga in ninth place at the end of the following season. Returned to this in 1940, the club completed the Saarpfalz squadron , alongside the Mainhessen squadron as one of two squadrons, first. The subsequent two-legged final for the championship was lost to Kickers Offenbach 4-5. From 1941 to 1944 he played in the Gauliga Westmark , from which he emerged with his club one point ahead of FC Metz as the winner in 1942/43 , as well as in 1943/44 as the Saarbrücken war game community with seven points. Due to the two Gaume Championships, he and his team took part in the respective finals for the German Championship . In his first participation in the finals, he was used in all five games, including the final reached on June 27, 1943 in Berlin , which was lost 3-0 to Dresdner SC . In his second finals appearance he denied, including the May 21, 1944 in the home stadium Kieselhumes with 1: 5 against 1. FC Nuremberg lost quarterfinals three finals matches. He also played in 1943 with the first round game and the quarter-finals, two games in the Tschammerpokal competition.

After the end of World War II , he played the first three seasons in the Oberliga Südwest . The northern group Saar-Palatinate-Hesse was the first of ten teams to complete. The two-legged final of the French Zone Championship was already decided 5-0 in the first leg on July 28, 1946, as the second leg on August 11, 1946 against SV Fortuna Rastatt ended in a 4-4 draw. The 1946/47 season ended as the reigning champion in fourth place, the 1951/52 season as first place.

National team

On November 22, 1950, he was used for the only time in an international match of the Saarland national team. The test of strength with the B national team of Switzerland in Saarbrücken ended 5-3 for his team, in which six other players from 1. FC Saarbrücken played.
