Heinrich Strieffler

Heinrich Strieffler (born July 8, 1872 in Neustadt an der Haardt (today Neustadt an der Weinstrasse ), † December 26, 1949 there ) was a German painter who preferred motifs from his Palatinate homeland.

Years of apprenticeship and travel

After elementary school , an apprenticeship in lithography followed in Neustadt an der Haardt . Strieffler continued his education through study trips with various stations in Germany, including with Ludwig von Langenmantel (1854-1922) and Theodor Spiess , enrolled in the Royal School of Applied Arts in Munich in 1891 and then in 1893 switched to the Munich Academy of Fine Arts in class for life drawing with Alexander Strähuber , (which every student had to go through), then with Gabriel von Hackl and Johann Leonhard Raabto study (also in the painting classes of Paul Hoecker and Franz von Stuck ).

After further trips to Italy and Holland , Strieffler worked for 45 years until his death in Landau , his home in the Palatinate, whose motifs (especially viticulture ) always inspired him and form the majority of his works.

Exhibitions

There were already significant exhibitions of his works during his lifetime, around 1917 in Frankfurt am Main and in 1921 in the Glaspalast in Munich . The Strieffler's former home in Landau is now the museum and gallery of the artist and the works of his daughter Marie Strieffler (1917–1987), known as the Strieffler House .

family

Strieffler was married to Ida Maria Salm from Lachen , and their daughter Marie, later also a well-known painter and artist, was born on May 8, 1917.

As an inventor, Heinrich Strieffler obtained various patents . In 1903 he was one of the founding members of the Palatinate Forest Association .
