Heinrich von Kampen or Hinrik van Kampen in Dutch , also Henrik , van Campen or, more rarely, Kampe (* in the province of Overijssel , Netherlands ; † around 1524 in Lübeck ) was a bell founder who was active in northern Germany, presumably from Kampen .

Live and act

Presumably he was named after his hometown Kampen in the Netherlands. A family relationship with the foundry family of Gerhard van Wou has been considered several times. In 1502 he was his assistant in the production of the 4,800 kg heavy bell of the collegiate church St.-Blasius ( Brunswick Cathedral ), which is known as "Salvator" or "Blasius major".

Between 1506 and 1517 he was found to be the founder of a large number of bells and guns in northern Germany. In 1511 he cast the fire bell for the Martinikirche in Halberstadt. Since 1512 he has been the owner of a house at Große Burgstraße 47 in Lübeck, which later passed to the bell founder Karsten Middeldorp . He delivered six bells to the Brunswick Cathedral, three to Mecklenburg, including one for the castle church in Schwerin , three for the Nicolaikirche in Lüneburg as well as artillery for the dukes of Mecklenburg.

The Sunday bell , which he cast in 1508 for the Marienkirche in Lübeck , fell as a result of the bombing on Palm Sunday in 1942 ; Today, its remains, together with the pulse bell, form a memorial and memorial.
