Heinrich von Randow (born July 25, 1561 in Redekin ; † June 28, 1621 in Magdeburg ) was in 1585 squire of Julius Duke of Brunswick and Lüneburg , from 1587 court squire , then captain of the land servants of Count Friedrich von Württemberg and Mömpelgart , and from 1603 Secular judge and bailiff of the cathedral chapter in Magdeburg.

Life

Heinrich von Randow went to school in Braunschweig from 1577 and moved to Halle in 1580 - presumably to the university. In 1581 he came to the University of Wittenberg , where he completed a three-year course.

In 1585 he came into the service of Duke Julius of Braunschweig and Lüneburg , when he was bishop of Minden . Just two years later, he moved to Count Friedrich von Württemberg and Mömpelgart as court squire . From this time, Heinrich's entry from January 6, 1587 in the register of Hans Christof von Hermsdorf, Princely Württemberg court master of the young rulers, was preserved. Another signature can be found under an entry in Latin in the family book of Johann Casimir , Count Palatine near Rhine, from 1586.

When the Catholic Duke of Guise fell into the country with 22,000 men in the course of the Huguenot Wars and "burned 64 cities and villages miserably", Heinrich von Randow was appointed captain of the mercenaries , and at that time he "killed the enemy to help drive away the conquered places and fortresses ”.

In 1603 Heinrich withdrew from the military campaigns and was appointed by the Archbishop of Magdeburg as secular judge and governor of the cathedral chapter. He held this office for almost 18 years until his death.

Marriage and offspring

Heinrich was married twice. First, on June 22nd, 1605, he married Dorothea von Britzke , the daughter of Caspar von Britzke, heir to Viesen, and Magdalena von Bornstedt . With her he had five daughters and two sons. Dorothea died at the age of 28 in Magdeburg on April 29, 1616 and was buried on May 3 in the cathedral cemetery within the cloister . Her grave tablet, that of her daughter Salome, and that of her husband can still be seen there on the outer wall of the remter .

After Dorothea's death, Heinrich married Barbara von Borch (von Borg), daughter of Hans von Borch auf Ziesar and Anna von Falck . From this marriage there were three children.

possession

In 1619 Heinrich owned the house Gouvernementsstrasse (today Gouvernementsberg) No. 1 in Magdeburg, but it did not survive the Second World War . The street has been called “In den Trillmönchen” since the 16th century because the monastery of the Troilus brothers was located there. The farmstead obviously survived the great fire when Magdeburg was destroyed by Tilly , because in 1636 the city rented it from Heinrich's heirs to house the town hall. In 1642 the house was called the Randauische Hof again and in 1668 a Ernst von Staupitz lived there, who had a von Randau, probably Heinrich's daughter, as his wife.
