Heinz-Egon Rösch

Heinz-Egon Rösch (born November 23, 1931 in Ingelheim ) is a German sports historian and university professor.

Life

After attending primary schools in Mainz and Bensheim and graduating from the Old Electoral High School in Bensheim , Rösch studied theology , pedagogy , sociology and history at the universities of Mainz , Freiburg i. Brsg. and Saarbrücken . In 1959 he passed the 1st state examination at the PH Landau and taught as a teacher in Niederburg , Feilbingert and Mainz until 1969 . After graduating as Dr. phil. At the Saarland University, Rösch was a research assistant at the EWH Koblenz and a lecturer. This was followed in 1974 by an appointment as a scientific adviser and after his habilitation in 1976 (Venia Legendi: Pedagogy, especially sports pedagogy), head of department and professor at the sports department at the University of Mainz . In 1976 he organized the 1st international sports history congress in Germany. As a full professor he taught and researched from 1979 until his retirement in 1997 at the Institute for Sports Science at the University of Düsseldorf . Rösch was involved in the Church and Sport working group of the Catholic Church.

His main areas of work are education and sport, culture and sport, history and sport, sport ethics, bicycle tourism - in addition, he has published scientific treatises and numerous books on cycling.

In 1998, Heinz-Egon Rösch presented the idea of ​​a Rheinhessen bicycle museum , which incorporated many aspects of his academic work, his experience in cycling tourism and his ideas of a bicycle-friendly community. Four years later, such a museum was opened in Ardeck Castle in Gau-Algesheim and Rösch became the first director of the museum (until 2012).
