Heinz Arnold (born August 24, 1920 in Reinsdorf ; † July 12, 2000 in Chemnitz ) was a German politician ( SED ). From 1963 to 1981 he was chairman of the council of the Karl-Marx-Stadt district .

Life

Arnold, the son of a miner , attended elementary school in Reinsdorf and the trade school in Zwickau and learned the profession of car mechanic from 1934 to 1937 . He later worked in this profession and as a fitter. Arnold made 1940-1945 military service and came in May 1945 as a corporal in the Steiermark in US captivity , from which he was released in June 1945th

In 1945 he became a member of the KPD , in 1946 after the forced unification of the SPD and KPD, a member of the SED. In 1945/46 he worked as a dismantling worker in the Horch factory in Zwickau . In 1946 he was co-founder and chairman of the Free German Youth (FDJ) in Friedrichsgrün , from 1946 to 1948 he was FDJ district secretary in Zwickau. In 1946 he attended the state youth school of the FDJ in Falkenberg / Elster and in 1947 the state party school of the SED in Ottendorf . In 1948/49 he was director of the municipal business enterprise (KWU) Zwickau. From 1949 to 1950 he worked as an instructor for the SED district leadership in the Zwickau district. From 1948 to 1952 he was a member of the Zwickau district council and from 1951/52 head of the local industry department of the Zwickau district council .

He was then from 1952 to 1954 chairman of the consumer district association Zwickau and from 1954 chairman of the board of the consumer district association Karl-Marx-Stadt. From 1954 to 1963 he was a member of the People's Chamber . In 1956 he attended a course at the party college "Karl Marx" .

From 1961 to 1963 he was secretary, from November 1963 to February 1981 chairman of the council of the Karl-Marx-Stadt district. He was also a member of the secretariat of the SED district leadership and a member of the district assembly .
