Lothar Fichtner

Lothar Willy Fichtner (born December 26, 1934 in Chemnitz ) is a former German politician ( SED ). He was chairman of the Karl-Marx-Stadt district council .

Life

Fichtner, the son of a working-class family, learned to be an industrial clerk between 1949 and 1952 after attending school in Grüna . He then worked at VEB Energieversorgung Karl-Marx-Stadt until 1956 . In 1949 he joined the FDJ . In 1955 he became a member of the SED. From 1956 to 1959 he studied at the engineering school for electrical energy in Zittau . He completed his studies as an engineering economist. From 1960 to 1966 he was secretary for economics in the FDJ district leadership in Karl-Marx-Stadt. Between 1966 and 1976 he worked as a political employee in the youth department of the Central Committee of the SED . From 1967 to 1972 Fichtner also completed a correspondence course at the party college "Karl Marx" with a degree in social science . From 1976 to 1981 he was first secretary of the SED district leadership in Glauchau and from 1979 to 1981 a member of the local district assembly. From 1981 to June 1990 he was chairman of the council of the Karl-Marx-Stadt district, member of the secretariat of the SED district leadership of Karl-Marx-Stadt and a member of the Karl-Marx-Stadt district assembly .

From 1986 to March 1990, Fichtner was also a member of the People's Chamber and a member of the Constitutional and Legal Committee.

On November 2, 1990, Fichtner was sentenced to ten months' imprisonment on probation by the Chemnitz District Court for inciting falsification of the results of the local elections in May 1989 . From 1990 to 2000 he worked as a manager in a business and tax consulting company. In 2000 he retired.
