Heinz Haberland

Heinz Karl Robert Haberland (born December 28, 1924 in Bielitz ; † September 18, 2013 in Vienna ) was a director and general manager .

From 1946 he attended the Horak Conservatory in Vienna. From 1946 to 1949 he was assistant director at the Vienna Volksoper and from 1949 to 1950 personal advisor at the Graz City Theaters . From 1950 to 1956 he worked as a director at the Vienna Volksoper. There he directed Polenblut by Oskar Nedbal (1954), Der Waffenschmied by Albert Lortzing (1954) and Fra Diavolo by Daniel-François-Esprit Auber (1955). From 1956 to 1959 Haberland worked as chief dispatcher in Düsseldorf ( Deutsche Oper am Rhein ) and from 1959 to 1963 as deputy director of the Cologne City Theaters . From 1963 to 1968 he was director of the United Theaters in Graz, from 1968 to 1974 deputy director of the Frankfurt Opera House , from 1974 to 1981 director of the Salzburg State Theater and from 1981 to 1986 director of the Deutsches Theater in Munich . Director Eberhard Waechter appointed him in 1986 as operations manager and deputy director at the Vienna Volksoper. Haberland held this position until 1989. In the same year he was made an honorary member of the Volksoper.

Haberland taught at the music academies in Cologne and Salzburg . He also worked as a film director for ORF . He gave directorial guest performances at home ( Mörbisch Lake Festival , Bregenz Festival , Salzburg Festival ) and abroad.

He is buried in the Vienna Central Cemetery (Group 63, Row 23, Number 47).
