Heinz Knappe

Heinz Knappe (born February 20, 1924 in Zerpenschleuse ; † May 23, 1997 in Duisburg ) was a German writer .

Life

Heinz Knappe went after visiting the elementary school as a sailor at sea. From 1942 he took part in the Second World War as a soldier in the Wehrmacht . From 1943 to 1949 he was a Soviet prisoner of war . After his return to Bremen he lived temporarily as a homeless person and did various odd jobs, including as a port worker and house painter . In 1951 he moved to the Ruhr area , where he worked underground until his early retirement in 1978 . In his free time he devoted himself to artistic activities such as painting , modeling and, above all, writing literary texts. Knappe last lived in Duisburg .

Heinz Knappe was the author of realistic novels and short stories , in which he dealt with current issues of the 1980s such as the anti-nuclear movement and the increasing xenophobia in the Federal Republic .

Heinz Knappe was a member of the Association of German Writers . In 1978 he received the authors' award of the Kelheimer Werkstatt , in 1981 the Georg Mackensen literary award and in 1982 the Oldenburg children's and youth book award .
