Helmut Morche

Helmut Morche (born February 25, 1930 in Pratau , today part of Lutherstadt Wittenberg ) is a former German FDJ and SED functionary. He was a candidate for the Central Committee of the SED and, at the end of 1989, was temporarily second secretary of the SED district leadership in Halle .

Life

Morche, the son of a track construction worker and a housewife , attended elementary school in Pratau from April 1936 to March 1944 . From April 1944 to March 1947 he attended vocational school and completed an apprenticeship as a locomotive fitter. From April 1947 to October 1950 was employed as a fitter in the nitrogen works Piesteritz .

Morche became a member of the Free German Youth (FDJ) and worked from October 1950 to June 1951 as FDJ secretary in the VEB nitrogen plant in Piesteritz . From July to December 1951 he was an instructor, then from December 1951 to December 1952 head of the youth workers' department of the FDJ district leadership in Halle (Saale) . In 1952/53 he was the first secretary of the FDJ city district leadership in Halle 2. In November 1953 Morche joined the Socialist Unity Party of Germany (SED). From 1953 to 1955 he was the second secretary of the FDJ city administration in Halle. In 1955/56 he attended a course at the SED district party school in Halle. From 1956 to 1961 he was first secretary of the FDJ city administration in Halle.

From 1961 to 1963 Morche headed the organization / management department of the SED city administration in Halle and from 1963 to 1966 served as the second secretary of the SED city administration in Halle. Between 1962 and 1966 he completed an evening course at the Leipzig Engineering School specializing in mechanical engineering technology, which he graduated as a technologist. He then studied from 1966 to 1969 at the party college "Karl Marx" . He completed his studies with a degree in social science . From 1969 to 1980 he was first secretary of the SED district leadership in Bitterfeld .

On June 12, 1980 Morche became - as successor to Günter Sattler - Secretary for Agriculture of the SED district leadership in Halle (until November 1989). Morche was also a member of the Halle district assembly until the end of December 1989 . On November 11, 1989 he was elected second secretary of the SED district leadership in Halle. He held this position until December 31, 1989. Morche took early retirement in March 1990 and has been a pensioner since 1995. In 1995 he resigned from the PDS .
