Helmut Rühl (actor)

Helmut Rühl (* 1955 in Tuttlingen ) is a German actor .

Life

After finishing secondary school, Rühl completed his training as an industrial clerk. From 1976 to 1979 he completed his acting studies at the Mozarteum in Salzburg .

In 1979 he was engaged directly at the Burgtheater Vienna , where he made his debut as Vlas in Gorkis Sommergästen under the direction of Achim Benning . Under Dieter Giesing he played Moritz Stiefel in Wedekind's Spring Awakening . Further productions followed. From 1986 to 1989 Helmut Rühl worked with George Tabori , Marty Fried and Walter Lott at the Der Kreis theater in Vienna, including in O'Neill's The Ice Man Comes and Tabori's Cannibals . An engagement at the Bremen Theater followed, where he played, among other things, Ui in Brecht's The Temporary Rise of Arturo Ui and Tarragon in Beckett's Waiting for Godot . He had other engagements in Wiesbaden and Dortmund, for example, where he played Mephisto in Goethe's Faust .

Rühl has lived in Berlin since 1991 .
