Justus Henning von Boehmer (born August 16, 1943 in Wriezen ) is a German business lawyer , author and journalist based in Düsseldorf .

origin

Von Boehmer comes from the Prussian family of lawyers Böhmer / von Boehmer , whose origins go back to around 1600. His ancestors include Justus Henning Böhmer , director of the University of Halle and one of the most important canon lawyers of the 17th and 18th centuries. Century, as well as Johann Samuel Friedrich von Böhmer , director of the Brandenburg University of Frankfurt and one of the leading criminal lawyers of the 18th century. Henning's maternal great-grandfather Bodo Borries von Ditfurth worked under Sultan Abdülhamid II as an Ottoman general and adjutant of the wing in Constantinople .

In addition, Henning von Boehmer descends through his paternal great-grandmother Mary Barbara Rennie in the 12th generation of the Pilgrim Governor William Bradford , who emigrated to Plymouth (Massachusetts) on the Mayflower in 1620 along with other "Pilgrim Fathers" . As a Mayflower descendant, von Boehmer is a member of the renowned "General Society of Mayflower Descendants" in the USA.

Henning von Boehmer is married to Claudia von Waldthausen , b. Fink (* 1959) and lives in Düsseldorf.

Career

Henning von Boehmer was a student in the humanistic Görres-Gymnasium Koblenz and in the humanistic boarding school Birklehof in Hinterzarten / Black Forest. He studied law in Kiel, Geneva, Bonn, Lyon, Toulouse and New York, did his doctorate in French law at the University of Bonn and completed his studies at New York University (NYU) with a Master of Laws (LL.M.).

Von Boehmer was admitted as a lawyer and specialist lawyer for tax law in Düsseldorf and was in-house at an English construction company, then head of the central law, personnel and taxes department of a German construction company. Then he became managing director of the economic council of the CDU eV . Most recently he was Secretary General of the International Chamber of Commerce (ICC) in Germany for 13 years . One of the highlights of his tenure was the 30th ICC World Congress in Hamburg in 1990 . He was also chairman of the board of directors of a Luxembourg futures & options fund of the bank Sal. Oppenheim jr. & Cie. Boehmer is currently a senior consultant at an international law firm and works as a business journalist (DJV) in Düsseldorf.

Henning von Boehmer is a co-founder of the German-American Lawyers Association as well as a co-founder and member of the German section of the Jerusalem Foundation . He is also a member of the German-French Circle eV Düsseldorf, the Düsseldorf Industry Club and the Business Development Association of the Düsseldorf University of Applied Sciences . He also sat on the advisory board of the headquarters to combat unfair competition .
