Life

Goetze came from the noble family von Götzen , which had several high-ranking officers in the Brandenburg army as early as the 17th century. His parents were the Brandenburg Rittmeister and heir of Zehlendorf Friedrich von Goetzen and his wife Anna von Wulfen adH Madelitz . His brother Adolph von Goetze was governor of the fortress Spandau , his nephew Johann Christoph von Goetze was governor of the fortress Küstrin , both were also governors of the fortress Peitz after him .

On July 7, 1623, Goetze was already in the rank of captain in Brandenburg . On this date, Elector Georg Wilhelm moved his company to Peitz, where Goetze received command and the keys to the fortress. At the death of his mother-in-law, Goetze still held the rank of lieutenant colonel. As a colonel , Goetze was chief of the infantry regiment from 1632 to 1634 (No. 14) . He succeeded Colonel Johann Streiff von Lauenstein , under whom the regiment was set up. After his death, Colonel Adam Valentin von Redern took over the regiment.

The future mayor of Berlin , Andreas Weber , who was already captain of the Brandenburg Electorate of Brandenburg when he was Goetze and who accompanied the drafts as scribe, joined Goetze as secretary after his appointment as governor and electoral council.

He was the heir to Zehlendorf .

Goetze was married to Clara von Schlieben , a daughter of Adam von Schlieben (1552–1628) and Barbara von Flans († 1631).
