Henning von Löwis of Menar

Henning von Löwis of Menar , also Henning von Löwis , (born March 23, 1948 in Freiburg an der Elbe ) is a German writer , journalist , editor and correspondent . He worked u. a. for Radio Portugal , in Namibia , for Deutschlandfunk (DLF) and for Westdeutscher Rundfunk (WDR).

Life

Henning von Löwis of Menar comes from an old Scottish-Baltic noble family . His father Werner Theodor von Löwis of Menar was a newspaper reporter and later a photographer , his mother came from a shipowner's family . He delivered his first literary work shortly after school, he worked as a cabin boy and reported on his experiences.

Career

Since 1966 he was a freelancer for the North German Broadcasting Corporation (NDR). His studies in Political Science , Public Law and Lusitanistics he graduated from 1968 to 1972 at the University of Hamburg . From 1968 to 1974 he was also a freelancer for Radio Portugal ( Emissora Nacional ) in Lisbon . With the thesis "bilateralism and multilateralism in foreign policy of Portugal since 1945" doctorate he 1976 Doctor of Philosophy (PhD.). From 1973 to 1983 he was a research assistant to Professor Hans-Peter Schwarz at the Research Institute for Political Science and European Issues at the University of Cologne . In 1984 he took over the management of the research area European and German Policy at the Konrad-Adenauer-Stiftung and at the same time worked until 1986 as a journalist for international relations, as an employee of DLF and Deutsche Welle (DW) and as a correspondent for the South West African Broadcasting Company in Bonn . From 1984 to 1989 he was a lecturer for international relations and foreign policy in the GDR at the University of Cologne. Since 1987 he has been an editor in the east-west department of the DLF and in 1989 he became a correspondent in Mecklenburg-Western Pomerania . In 1991 he took over reporting from the Baltic States and Kaliningrad for the DLF and WDR, and since 1994 he has been editor of the DLF (background department).
