Herbert Lorenz (artist)

Herbert Lorenz (* 1916 in Chemnitz ; † March 2, 2013 in Gleisweiler ) was a freelance painter , graphic artist and sculptor who also worked as a freelance furniture designer , restorer and church designer .

Career

After training as a decorative painter , he studied art at the State School of Chemnitz , at the Art School of Bremen and at the Städel in Frankfurt . He had studios in Koblenz (1938–1939), in Hennen , part of Iserlohn / Westphalia (1946–1980), and then in Gleisweiler in the Palatinate . Between 1968 and 1980 he also taught at the adult education center in Schwerte and at the Friedrich-Leopold-Woeste-Gymnasium in Hemer .

Herbert Lorenz was married and had three children.

Works by him can be found in public buildings and on squares in German cities, including in the USA, as well as in churches, especially in the Archdiocese of Paderborn .
