Herbert Plate

Herbert Plate ( pseudonyms : Alexander Drosten , Jesko von Wiehl , born April 15, 1918 in Hardenberg , Westphalia , † April 2002 ) was a German writer .

Life

Herbert Plate came from a farming family and worked as a farmer in the Sauerland until 1950 . He took part in World War II as a soldier , in which he was seriously wounded. From 1953 he lived as a freelance writer, from 1968 in Marienhagen in Oberberg and finally in Waldbröl-Drinhausen . Plate made extensive trips to Asia , Africa and America .

Herbert Plate's work consists primarily of novels and short stories for young people . In his narrative works, which are often set in exotic locations, he often processed experiences that he had made on his travels. As a passionate hunter , he also wrote numerous nature and animal books , but also radio plays and scripts for television games .

Herbert Plate was a member of the Association of German Writers , the Friedrich Bödecker Circle and, since 1998, an honorary member of the Living Hunting Culture Forum . In 1964 he received the Friedrich Gerstäcker Prize for the novel Der-aus-dem-Dschungel-kam and in 1996 the Golden Pen of the Working Group on Literature in Schools .
