Herbert Sinz

Herbert Sinz (born February 23, 1913 in Dortmund ; † July 24, 1989 in Frechen ) was a German historian and writer .

Life

Herbert Sinz was originally a journalist. As a 15-year-old he wrote for the Thuringian People's Guard ; from 1934 he worked as a journalist for newspapers in Dortmund and Munich . From 1938-1940 studied it journalism , history and economics at the University of Munich . In 1940 he did his doctorate there under Karl d'Ester and Karl Alexander von Müller (co-referee) with a thesis on handicrafts and press for a doctorate in philosophy . After the Second World War he lived in Erfurt , Cologne , Hürth and most recently in Frechen . After the war, after working in the tourism sector, he last worked as a director at a Cologne insurance company.

As a part-time job, Sinz had a lectureship at the Cologne University of Applied Sciences for economic and social history and craft for a while.

Honors

He was honored with the culture prize of the city of Hürth and that of the Erftkreis. In 1985 he received the Rhineland Taler from the Rhineland Regional Council .

Herbert Sinz was the author of economic history treatises and company commemorations , he also wrote novels , books for young people , travelogues and biographies .
