Hermann Bühlbecker, according to the Federal Gazette Hermann Kittelberger-Bühlbecker (born June 7, 1950 in Aachen ), is a German entrepreneur in the confectionery industry . From 1978 he was managing director of the Aachener Printen- und Schokoladenfabrik Henry Lambertz GmbH & Co. KG and in 1992 became the sole shareholder of the company.

Live and act

The son of the architect Hermann Bühlbecker and Rosemarie Bühlbecker, geb. Geller, studied business administration at the Friedrich-Alexander-Universität Erlangen-Nürnberg after graduating from high school . Bühlbecker, who had already had a successful career as a tennis player at TK Kurhaus Aachen as a teenager, financed his studies as a player at Noris Nürnberg, a club in the top tennis league, which at that time was comparable to today's Bundesliga.

Shortly after graduating with a degree in business administration and receiving his doctorate as Dr. rer. pole. In 1976 his uncle Karl F. Kittelberger, managing director of the Aachen printen and chocolate factory Henry Lambertz GmbH & Co. KG , convinced him to take on an assistant position in the family business. At that time the shareholders were Bühlbecker's mother Rosemarie, her aunt Paula, geb. Geller, and her husband Kittelberger. At that time the company, whose roots go back to the year 1688, was economically badly damaged due to its one-sided focus on the production of seasonal pastries, was in debt and had to cope with a major fire in 1977 with damage amounting to 20 million DM. In 1978, Hermann Bühlbecker took over the management from his uncle and expanded the company through innovations, particularly in the field of year-round pastries and through strategic takeovers of other fine pastry manufacturers, into one of the largest confectionery manufacturers in Germany. With almost 3,500 employees in seven branches, one of which is in Poland and one in the United States since 2011, it generates a total sales volume of over 550 million euros in 2011. Bühlbecker has been the sole shareholder and chairman of the three-person advisory board of Lambertz Group. He is also a co-owner of Top Sweets GmbH in Nordkirchen, which he and Josef Schreinemacher founded in 2011 , a private label manufacturer of confectionery and chewing gum, which also includes the effervescent stick manufacturer Sadex.

In addition to his numerous responsibilities as company director, Bühlbecker took on a teaching position as a lecturer from the 2006 summer semester and from 2010 as an honorary professor at the International School of Management in Dortmund . There he teaches in consulting workshops, market research projects and in entrepreneurship .

In addition, in 2011 Bühlbecker was appointed Honorary Consul of the Republic of Ivory Coast , a country that is considered the largest cocoa producer in the world and with which Bühlbecker has maintained close business contacts for years.

Bühlbecker is a member of the Federal Association of the German Confectionery Industry and was Deputy Chairman and at the same time First Chairman of the pastry department between 2000 and 2009, of which he remains a member of the board. He is also a member of the Economic Senate in the Federal Association of Medium-Sized Enterprises (BVMW) and in the European Economic Senate (EWS).

Social and community engagement

Supported by his worldwide economic contacts, Bühlbecker also built up numerous connections to important politicians, artists and institutions in order to get involved with them in a variety of ways, including for their foundations in the social field. For example, he supports the American Foundation for AIDS Research (amfAR), the Elton John Aids Foundation and the German AIDS Foundation . He is also involved in the Clinton Global Initiative of the Clinton Foundation , which campaigns for the fight against poverty and global warming as well as for education, health, etc. He also supported Deutsche Welthungerhilfe , UNICEF and UNESCO Germany as well as the German Child Protection Association , the Federal Association of Children with Heart Disease (BVHK eV) and the Aachen Animal Welfare Association. He was also involved in Cinema for Peace , a foundation whose aim is to raise awareness of the social and sociological relevance of films and to highlight the influence of films on the perception and remediation of social, political and humanitarian grievances around the world.

In addition to his social commitment, Bühlbecker still has an active relationship with sport. For example, he is a member of the Board of Trustees of the Deutsche Sporthilfe Foundation and, through his company, sponsors the CHIO Aachen , the Alemannia Aachen and his former tennis club, the TK Kurhaus Aachen.

Since 2004, Bühlbecker has been presenting the “Lambertz Monday Night” every year on the social floor, which traditionally takes place parallel to the International Confectionery Fair (ISM). These events take place in the old waiting room in Cologne. Around 1000 guests are invited to the glamorous “Chocolate & Fashion Show”, including numerous national and international celebrities, show stars, actors, politicians, diplomats, athletes and business managers. A photo calendar has also been published annually since 2004. The Lambertz calendar is issued in a limited edition of 1000 pieces and is not available in stores.
