Hermann Kühn

Hermann Kühn (born May 17, 1851 in Schlawe ( Pomerania ), † February 27, 1937 in Berlin ) was a German politician and State Secretary in the Reich Treasury of the German Empire .

School, university and professional career

He attended high school in Köslin . During his studies in Heidelberg in 1871 he became a member of the Frankonia Heidelberg fraternity . After studying law , he became a court trainee in 1874 . In 1879 he became a court assessor in Köslin and then district and district judge in Marggrabowa and Rügenwalde . In 1883 he became a government assessor for the administration of indirect taxes in Szczecin . In 1885 he was first upper limit controller and then in 1886 Councilor and Head of the Customs inspection of Thorn . Just one year later he became a member of the provincial tax authorities of Danzig and, in 1889, of Berlin .

Promotion to State Secretary in the Reich Treasury

In 1892 he moved to the Reich Treasury. Initially he was a lecturing council and a secret councilor before he was promoted to the secret councilor in 1896 . In 1905 he was appointed director of the Reich Treasury. In this function he was also Deputy Authorized Representative to the Federal Council . In 1910 he was appointed Undersecretary of State in the Reich Treasury.

On March 17, 1912, he succeeded Adolf Wermuth as State Secretary in the Reich Treasury . He held this office until January 17, 1915. At the same time he was Real Privy Councilor and authorized representative to the Federal Council. Karl Helfferich succeeded him as State Secretary . Between July 3, 1914 and January 31, 1915 he was also Prussian Minister of State without portfolio .

Awards

In 1915 he became an honorary citizen of his hometown Schlawe .
