Hermann Seidl

Hermann Seidl (born September 13, 1958 in Würzburg ; † May 11, 2018 in Kitzingen ) was a German composer .

Life

After high school Hermann Seidl studied 1979-1984 school music at the Music Conservatory and musicology at the University in Würzburg . In addition to teaching as a music teacher at the Armin-Knab-Gymnasium in Kitzingen (until the end of 2011), he was a speaker in regional and national teacher training in the areas of school games, composition and computers. Since the winter semester 2002/2003 he was a lecturer at the University of Music in Würzburg for the subject of composition.

As a composer , Hermann Seidl has created chamber music , orchestral and choral works for traditional ensembles, electronics , jazz and rock for experimental music theater and, in collaboration with visual artists, audiovisual installations. The first compositions were performed in Würzburg in 1983. Since then there have been many other performances at home and abroad. For his compositional work he was awarded the Sudetendeutschen Landsmannschaft Music Prize in 1993. In the Siegburg Composition Competition in 2002 he received 3rd prize for the composition "ab" for recorder & piano , and in 2005 1st prize for the composition "3 miniatures" for 2 bassoons and contrabassoon .

The first CD was released at the end of 1995 with Peter Cloos ( horn ) and Martin Wenning ( organ ) from Kassel . In autumn 1998 the CD "Stein & Stille" followed with exclusively their own works. It contains chamber music for violoncello , flute , piano , stones and electronics . A new edition of this CD on the label bcc blue calvin classics was released in 2003. The second CD "whale songs" with organ works was released in 2009, interpreter is Michael Eckerle , organist in Pforzheim. The cycles “Love is a shirt made of fire”, “Drei Lieder” and “Bilder der Nacht” for mixed choir , all based on texts by Paul Konrad Kurz , and the cycle “fragments” based on texts by Ursula Haas are published by the publishing house “Edition Music Contact ”relocated. Organ music and chamber music works have been published by Laurentius-Musikverlag in Frankfurt.
