The Hermilio Valdizán district is located in the Leoncio Prado province in the Huánuco region in central Peru . The district was established on May 27, 1952. The district was named after Hermilio Valdizán (1885-1929), a Peruvian doctor and writer.

The Hermilio Valdizán district has an area of ​​117.24 km². The 2017 census counted 3475 inhabitants. In 1993, the population was in 3497, in 2007 the 3,793th administrative center of the district is at an altitude of 1250  m nearby places Hermilio Valdizán with 306 inhabitants (2017). Hermilio Valdizán is located 20 km northeast of the provincial capital Tingo María .

Geographical location

The district is located in the northeast of the Leoncio Prado province. It lies on the western slope of the Cordillera Azul , a mountain range of the Peruvian Eastern Cordillera .

The Hermilio Valdizán district is bordered by the Daniel Alomías Robles district to the south, the Luyando district to the west, the Pueblo Nuevo district to the north and the Padre Abad district ( Padre Abad province ) to the east .
