Herneacova (1924: Iernești , German: Herniakowa , Hungarian: Aranyág ) is a village in Timiș County , in the Banat region , in southwest Romania . Herneacova belongs to the administrative area of ​​the city of Recaş .

Geographical location

Herneacova is located north of Recaș, on the national road DN6 Timișoara - Lugoj .

history

Over the centuries different spellings of the place name appeared: 1439 Aranyaso , Aranyasa , in the 15th century Haranag , 1808 Hernyakova , Hernjakova , 1888 Hernyakova , 1913 Aranyág , 1919 Herniacova .

A first written mention comes from the year 1349, Aranyasa . At the time of Johann Hunyadi , the place name Haranag appears . In 1477 the place name Hernyakovczi appears. On the Mercy card from 1723 is Arankoszelo entered on the map of 1761 Hernyakovo .

As a result of the Austro-Hungarian Compromise (1867), the Banat was annexed to the Kingdom of Hungary within the dual monarchy of Austria-Hungary . The Hungarian noble family Bydeskuthy bought the Herneacova estate from the Arar . These settled Hungarian and Slovak colonists, Roman Catholic, from Hanusfalva in the village.

The Treaty of Trianon on June 4, 1920 resulted in the Banat being divided into three parts, so that Herneacova fell to the Kingdom of Romania .

Herneacova is one of the most popular local excursion destinations for the Timisoara thanks to its riding stables. In addition to riding school, there are a variety of leisure activities here, such as B. a carriage ride or a bike ride on a mountain bike in the nearby hilly landscape and a pavilion with barbecue facilities.
