Spišské Hanušovce (until 1927 in Slovak "Hanušovce"; German Hannsdorf or Henschau , Hungarian Hanusfalva ) is a municipality in northern Slovakia with 789 inhabitants (December 31, 2019). It belongs to the Okres Kežmarok , part of the Prešovský kraj and is counted as part of the traditional Spiš landscape .
geography
The municipality is located in the Spis Magura Mountains by the Rieka brook , not far from the Polish border. The center of the village is at an altitude of 614 m nm and is seven kilometers from Spišská Stará Ves and 30 kilometers from Kežmarok .
history
The place was founded in 1313 by a mayor under German law and was then called Henus . The Landecker Kreuzorden kept the village until 1593, after which the owners changed between landed gentry and the castle in Käsmark.
In 1828 there are 93 houses and 682 inhabitants who were employed in agriculture and as carters.
The place in Zips County belonged to the Kingdom of Hungary until 1918 and then came to Czechoslovakia, or now Slovakia.

- Roman Catholic St. Andrew's Church in the baroque style, built on the plan of a medieval church and designed today in a classicist style
- Spillenberg country castle in the classical style from the 19th century, today converted into a hotel
