history
Vrbov was first mentioned in writing in 1251 as Webrew . The originally Slavic place was settled by the German colonists in the late 13th century and belonged to the Union of the Spiš Saxons and the brotherhood of 24 royal priests . After a privilege of 1317, the place developed as a town. In the period 1412–1772 Vrbov was pledged to Poland.
After the end of World War II, most of the Germans were expelled and Slovaks moved here from the Blažov and Ľubické Kúpele area.
