Malý Slavkov ( German  Kleinschlagendorf , Hungarian Kisszalók ) is a municipality in northern Slovakia with 1103 inhabitants (December 31, 2019). It belongs to the Okres Kežmarok , a part of the Prešovský kraj .

geography

The village is located in the Popradská kotlina basin (part of the larger Podtatranská kotlina ) by the Slavkovský jarok stream under the High Tatras . The center of the village lies at an altitude of 652  m nm and is four kilometers from Kežmarok .

history

Malý Slavkov was first mentioned in writing as Zolok in 1251 and was initially a border village on the northern edge of the then Hungarian state in the shadow of the town of Käsmark.

From 1974 to 1995 Malý Slavkov was part of the town of Kežmarok.
