Bušovce (German Bauschendorf , Hungarian Busóc - until 1877 Bussóc ) is a municipality in northern Slovakia with 301 inhabitants (December 31, 2019). It belongs to the Okres Kežmarok , part of the Prešovský kraj and is counted as part of the traditional Spiš landscape .
geography
The village is located in the Popradská kotlina basin , a part of the Podtatranská kotlina at the confluence of the Biela river with the Poprad . The municipal area is largely deforested and flat to slightly hilly. The center of the village is at an altitude of 592 m nm and is eleven kilometers from Kežmarok .
Neighboring municipalities are Podhorany in the north, Holumnica in the northeast, Jurské in the southeast, Krížová Ves in the south, Spišská Belá in the southwest and Slovenská Ves in the west.
history
The place was first mentioned in writing as Stragar in 1286 , when the ancestors of the Sváby dynasty received the village from King Ladislaus IV . A parish is recorded in the place mentioned in Bussundorff in 1345 , the tithe was due to the canon in Spiš chapter . In 1787 there were 81 houses and 589 inhabitants and in 1828 98 houses and 730 inhabitants who were employed in agriculture and linen weaving and white. There was also a distillery until 1940.
Until 1918 the place in Zips County belonged to the Kingdom of Hungary and then came to Czechoslovakia or now Slovakia. Until 1945 the village was German-speaking with a Slovak minority, according to the Beneš decrees , the Germans were expelled and the village was repopulated.

According to the 2011 census, 313 residents lived in Bušovce, of which 288 were Slovaks and three each were Germans and Roma. 19 residents did not answer. 261 residents belonged to the Roman Catholic Church, seven residents to the Evangelical Church AB, four residents to the Greek Catholic Church, two residents to the Orthodox Church and one resident to the Jehovah's Witnesses. Four residents were non-denominational and the denomination of 34 residents was not determined.
