history
Jezersko was founded in 1611 by György Horváth-Palocsay, the owner of the Niedzica castle , in a sparsely populated area. The first inhabitants came from the area around Nowy Targ and Czorsztyn , so the name comes from the Polish word jezioro (in German lake). Until the abolition of serfdom in 1848, the later landlords changed relatively frequently. In 1787 there were 37 houses and 293 inhabitants and in 1828 50 houses and 366 inhabitants who were employed in forestry, agriculture and as shepherds.
Until 1918 the place in Zips County belonged to the Kingdom of Hungary and then came to Czechoslovakia or now Slovakia.
