history

The place was founded in the 13th century by the Berzeviczy family and was first mentioned in writing in 1319 as Lechnicz . In that year the Magister Kokos left the place with a plot of land 68 Lahn to the Carthusians of Refuge Rocks in today's Slovak Paradise , who built the Red Monastery in 1330 . From this point in time until the abbey was dissolved in 1782, the history and ownership are closely related to that of the Red Monastery. The last landowner from 1820 until the abolition of serfdom in 1848 was the Greek Catholic diocese of Eperies .

In 1787 there were 98 houses and 574 inhabitants and in 1828 there were 82 houses and 598 inhabitants who were employed in agriculture and as carters.

Until 1918 the place in Zips County belonged to the Kingdom of Hungary and then came to Czechoslovakia or now Slovakia.
